Ellen Vroegh schildert overwegend modern figuratief en heeft haar werk onderverdeeld in de categorie multicolors en terracolors.
Onder laatstgenoemde categorie vallen ook haar fresco's, pastels en beschilderde stenen.
Enerzijds geeft het haar veel voldoening om te werken met terrakleuren omdat daar een zekere rust en warmte vanuit gaat, anderzijds voelt zij zich ook sterk aangetrokken tot primaire kleuren.
Ongeacht het onderwerp streeft zij ernaar om evenwicht te vinden in compositie, vorm en kleur.
Zij werkt vanuit een concept dat zij in gedachte heeft waarbij zij zich laat leiden door spontane ingevingen.
Materialen; acrylverf, pastelkrijt, houtskool of combinaties hiervan. Om structuur en reliëf te verkrijgen past zij verschillende technieken toe. Als gereedschap gebruikt zij kwast, spons, paletmes en haar handen.
Ellens roots liggen in Rotterdam waar zij aan de Kunstacademie Willem de Kooning studeerde.
Sinds 1995 woont zij in het Gooi.

Nowadays she lives in the beautiful region 'Het Gooi', near Amsterdam.
Her paintings are modern figurative, very colorful and divided in two categories; multicolors and terracolors. The frescoes, pastels and stones belong to the last-mentioned category.
She loves to express herself in the warm and tranquil radiation of earth colors, but she is also strongly attracted to vivid and bright colors.
Mostly she works with a rough sketch that she has in mind and during painting she is guided by spontaneous inspiration.
Her intention is to find the right composition between form and color. The materials she uses are; pastel, charcoal, and acrylic paint. In order to create relief and structure she applies combined techniques. Her tools are; brush, sponge, palette knife and her hands.
